Fairly Excellent

CAUTION: IMAGE LADEN POST!!!

My grandparents travel a lot and when they’re gone, they usually go for longer than a year at a time. So when they’re around, we do things with them as much as we can. This does mean clearing the schedule of other things such as writing and thinking up entertaining posts. And I’ve never requested so many days off work before!

Last week, they took my brother and me to the State Fair, and just for you bloggy friends I’ve chosen some of the highlights of the day to be shown.

In which I am a dopey American with Clark Kent shades, and my brother goes with the Scotland vibes.

My hat fit my gramma better than the ones at the fair, so Grampa bought me this one and we traded.

I have to admit, this is an awesome looking sound system.

I have taken the liberty of highlighting the best song on this list. :)

Grampa and I had a bit of an identity crisis while there.

I love to look at birdies. ^.^

This was one special chicken.

And I found my animal twin!

The only spider I can tolerate is a blatantly fake one.

Found the Batman symbol in a giant whale tail constructed with “scrap metal, actually.”

And Pacman and the Superman symbol, too!

I love them quite muchly. <3

I love wallabies!! Or, I mean: woollahbeez. Deengoh baybeez mayte!

Call me… Khaleesi.

Prettiest thing I found in the shops. Oh yes. J is for Jonathan. *eyebrow quirk*

I did a picture like this the last time we were there. It’s sort of tradition now. Someday it’ll be true!!

He is quite proud of his bottle balancing skills. And funnily enough, the gelato seller was very impressed by them, too. My brother’s response: “Yeah, he doesn’t get out much. He’s been stuck at that stand all day.”

And there you have it! Stay tuned for the next hugely pictorial post documenting a day at the lake.

Farewell, duckies!

7 Songs I Hate but Love To Sing

There can be nothing offensive about this image because it's from School House Rock. Which is a kids' show.

Tell me I’m not the only one with a list like this.

I have no great love of most modern music. Most songs are absolutely ridiculously eye-rolling-ly obnoxious. However… they’re also super catchy. And somehow when you sing them really loud to annoy other people, or head-bang to them in the car to freak out the driver next to you, they become almost… likable.

What can I say? Mockery makes the heart grow fonder.

7. My Life Would Suck – Kelly Clarkson

It’s 7th on the list because it doesn’t annoy me and I don’t hate it. It’s just fun to sing really loud to your best friend when she’s not paying enough attention to you. :P

6. Hot n Cold – Katy Perry

Again, this song isn’t really loathed by me. It is what it is. A song to make fun of guys with. And to sing anytime temperatures at work are questioned.

5. Pocket Full of Sunshine -Natasha Bedingfeld

It’s so annoying. As said in Easy A: “Worst song ever.” And yet it begs to be sung! Like this, mostly. And at work. I’ve heard it both ways.*

4. Apologize – One Republic

I would never listen to this song and enjoy it as… music. :P I would, and do, however, frequently sing it whenever it’s “too late” for anything, or someone apologizes.

3. Girlfriend – Avril Lavigne

I can’t count the amount of times I’ve sung this to my brother. For no reason whatsoever. (Excluding the “I could be your girlfriend” part. There are limits to my creepiness. I know that shocks you.)

2. 7 Things – Miley Cyrus

Who can resist getting super uncomfortably close to a person and going, “Sha! Sha! Sha!” I know I can’t! This song is absurd. Horrible, even. But it’s so much fun to sing. Ugh.

1. Friday – Rebecca Black

I will spare you the details. The title/artist is self explanatory.

Dear Memory

Letter Challenge Day Twenty-Four–The Person That Gave Me My Favorite Memory

I deem this a cruel, cruel challenge. After Europe last summer, trips to the ocean with the family, all the hilarious escapades I’ve got into since having a job… hey, since I was two years old chasing lizards with dad which is the farthest back I can remember, there’s no way I could pick one person who’s given me my favorite memory. It’s not going to happen. So blame this terribly worded title-of-a-challenge for the next bunch of paragraphs.

A totally irrelevant picture! Yay!

Dear Gerrik,

Is that how I spell your name? I never know. Some days it’s Gerric, others Gerik or Gerrik. I do recall how you were named. You were deemed moody in the way Gerard Butler’s version of  The Phantom is.

Gerard + Erik = You. Whatever way I spell it.

I can’t say you’ve never given me a favorite memory, because without you there wouldn’t be the amusement of fan fiction, the ease of 7,000+ word conversations with amazing people, the gut-wrenching, soul-squeezing travails of adding to Word documents, or the ups and downs of Facebook drama. Yet it seems more accurate to say you’ve stored my favorite memories. Yes, I’m thinking about the PDF files that may or may not see the light of day. Ever.

Like the Lorna Doone film which is not to be mourned. That one shall always be kept in a very special place in my heart. Along with the memory of that car accident on my sixteenth birthday. It’s that kind of special. Yes, you were a good computer and killed Lorna Doone for us during one of your many memory wipes. (Like Lloyd Webber’s cat who tried to kill Love Never Dies, only I was wiser than he and accepted the killing.) You’re like a Star Wars droid. Every now and then I advance too many plots and your memory has to be erased so the Sith won’t find out my secrets.

Or maybe you’re just old and have the computer version of Alzheimer’s.

Whatever the reason, I’ve nearly lost you several times. *violent shudder* And being that you store every important writing document I ever put effort into, it was not even remotely okay. …Speaking of which, I should back up all my files again. Oh flashdrive, where art thou!?

I hope you remain in good health for many moons to come. We have a novel to finish this year, you and I! (And the last season of H2O to finish.) Let’s not get lazy now!

And yes, because the inventors of this challenge were silly and gave me an impossible challenge, I’ve just written a letter to my computer. Thanks a lot, twenty-first century. You’ve made me that person.

How about a song to make me feel more human!

[Yours Truly, 2095] -Electric Light Orchestra

Friday Night YouTube

This is horrible, but it makes me laugh.

Hmmmm. Kill the dollar bill?

Personally, I love pennies. But I also have a tender spot in my heart for cripples, bastards and broken things. **quote alert**

Sometimes I think to myself, “I should really make videos again.” But then I see things like this and realize I don’t need to. Because this is basically what I intend on doing before the director/best friend/makeup artist comes in and edits to make it… not this. :P

Not gonna lie. That’s what goes through my brain 90% of the time. Also, out of loyalty to my best friend, I hate this girl for spending time with Alex Day (nerimon) in Africa. Since he is future husband of said best friend.

Aaaand… undeniable proof that I have a YouTube twin….

Thus concludes the reason I don’t vlog or make videos anymore. She’s basically me, but prettier and with better equipment. :)

Same YouTuber, a more mellow, pretty, soft, visual…ness.

And mum and I finished Lois and Clark Season 2 and the first episode of 3!! If y’all haven’t seen it, you’re missing out. It’s the only Superman I stand by. Cheese fest, sometimes, but that only makes it more wonderful.

I hate stupid YouTube that cuts off the last few seconds, visually speaking. Because his face after that is priceless. :P

Watching this version of Pride and Prejudice, too. It’s… hehehehe. Well, it’s different. I hate their costumes most of the time. Mr. Darcy is a robot. Lizzy acts very smug sometimes, but she’s not horrible–yet. And Mary is Miss Awkward Beth. Me. At my worst. That’s her.

Enjoy!

Project Hair Grow – Month 10

Okay, I took different pictures in various times during the month of June for my hair. But none of them were quite… well, I guess I try too hard sometimes. I just need a decent picture of my hair! That’s all!

So in an effort to be more… me… without the added pressure, I dug up a June picture of me (with my hair down) after a day of work. No makeup, either. You’ve been warned. ;)

Oh yeah. Deer in the headlights look. :P

And I did finally get my bangs trimmed! Beauty school. That’s the secret. I can afford to pay those girls who are just starting out. And they do a great job! It takes a little longer because they want to be really careful, but I paid $7 for a full shampoo/cut/style. Pretty snazzy!

There. My bangs.

My camera is going through a phase right now where it takes really bad, glowy pictures.

Also, this should actually be June’s post. Because I kept putting this off. Because I’m lame like that.
