My Birthday. It’s a big deal.

[Begins October 17th]

*sing-songy voice* I own Boys Over Flowers! I own Boys Over Flowers!!! :D HEHEHEHEHHE!!

Already, Mummy and Ej have bought me the most amazing thing. The entirety of Boys Over Flowers. I could have died happy right there. Well, then Mummy gave me a beautiful ring with a jeweled flower in the centre, and she’s bought me coffees and breakfasts every morning, and my room is quickly filling with all the birthday pictures my littlest siblings keep drawing. Nessie did a special Tangled edition, and it’s very cute, but I wonder why Flynn is clean shaven? She must know my preferences without me telling. =)

Today, I got my eyebrows waxed for the first time! It was actually very relaxing!

Yesterday, I began birthday video browsing by watching tons of adorable Korean commercials, and nearly crying over gorgeous Kdrama soundtrack pieces.

But you really have to know Boys Over Flowers to understand why those thirty seconds make me die from giggle overload. :D

Okay, you have to do this… if you like pretty songs, and romance, and the rain, and pretty songs about romance in the rain, please do this to fulfill my birthday wish for you! And don’t be scared that it’s in Korean, because I provided you with the English translation, okay!? :D Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay? Okay!

1. Pull this link up and pause it: Rainy Mood
2. Do the same here: Love Rain is Falling
3. Start them so they play together–Rainy Mood should start slightly before, I think.
4. Enjoy the most beautiful three and a half minutes you will spend tonight. :)

And now, here is a pictorial run-down of the rest of my birthday doings.

Delicious Bowl Noodle–spicy kimchi and spicy beef are the best flavours. I buy the twelve packs. In church, I had a passing thought of how good looking my brothers are–from the back. =P I went swing dancing! My old (meaning was my manager and is not) and dear manager, Matt came and danced a couple dances with me, and the friends who took me there were fantastic company for a floundering first-timer. :) I danced with a really cute Asian guy to Footloose, too. That’s a memory for keeps! xD Spent time with my other sister, Mosie. I bet you didn’t know I have blonde sisters, too. I had IHOP for my birthday breakfast. Oh, and something else happened… Hm. What is it? I seem to be in a salon chair, but for what purpose?

Yes, I’m doing this to you on purpose, even though you could be a cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater and scroll right to the bottom. But for you girl scouts out there… I GOT MY PIXIE CUT!!!

Tada!! Oh, does that second picture not show enough? =P I’m still trying to mess with you and build suspense.

My mummy bought me that clock. ^_^

Getting the best. gift. ever!!

Totally not trying to rub it in. :)

Go Mi Nam hair clippie and piggy bunny!! Or pig rabbit. Piggy rabbit. Pig bunny. I’ve heard it both ways.

I’m so very thankful for everyone who made my 22nd birthday such a big deal! My best friend for taking me to the salon for a haircut that could have got me disowned (which was probably her plan so we could initiate never-ending sleep over!); Dad who did not disown me, but took me to lunch and the Korean market; Ej, for the pig bunny and pitching in and giving ideas for everything else, Phil for the hair clippie, Mummy for being absolutely the best mum ever, and Lydia, my pretty dongsaeng, and all the little ones for the DVDs (I now own Tangled! and The Swiss Family Robinson on DVD!), and all the amazing pictures and birthday cards, and…

Thank you.

This birthday was awesome!! WOOOOOO!!!!

Birthday Wishes

I’m turning 22 in October. Now that I have a job, I can treat myself to some things (treat yo. self!)–like new paint and furniture and bedding for my room and $100 worth of food and drinks from the Asian market–but gifts are never as special when they’re gifts to yourself. And I need to start saving for Disneyland!!

People don’t usually ask a soon-to-be-22 year old what she wants for her birthday. Mostly because I just demand gifts. :P I think I’m supposed to be at an age where I accept a lunch date or free Starbucks as a birthday gift. Which I do, and is lovely, and I’m always very happy for those things! But I have other thiiiings I would like this year if it’s at all possible for friends and family to procure for me. Material, fun things I can’t justify adding to my budget.

1. Felicity Gowns and Accessories – Unfortunately, I was a complete pauper when the Felicity things were still in circulation so the doll was all I had, and now that I’m grown and have money I can’t justify spending hundreds of dollars on all the things I’d love to keep and collect for my future daughter, who, when she exists, MUST know the wonders of this Colonial American Girl and the pretty things that go with her. A lot of these things are sold on Ebay for exorbitant amounts of money. I would love to have Felicity’s Christmas gown, her undergarments/shift, the pink birthday gown, and riding habit. To name a few. :P

2. Korean Drama Things – I want to own You’re Beautiful and Boys Over Flowers. If it’s a Korean Drama and I’ve seen it, I would like to own the soundtrack. But they are not cheap. I have a pig rabbit charm for my cell phone, but I would not mind having the plush pig rabbit, or the hairclip, or hoodies, or any of the charms from the dramas I’ve seen. Just not the necklaces. They’re too special, and I don’t want to cheapen the love story behind each one by owning a replica “one of a kind” necklace. It would feel wrong.

FTIsland is my favourite band of all time ever. And I’ve never had a favourite band before!

Also–and this is Japanese, not Korean–I have not finished watching Emma: A Victorian Romance because they took it down off YouTube which is very distressing to me and it was a great little anime as far as I could tell, so I must own it to finish watching!!

3. Something from AnthropologieIf everyone I know pitched in a five dollar gift card for Anthropologie, I still wouldn’t be able to afford a dress from there. But it would help. :P

For example, this dress is very pretty.

It’s like a grown-up, sophisticated creamsicle dress!

4. Anything from the Victorian Trading Company – Like the birds nest ring or lark earrings or this poison ring!! They also have furniture I want, but cannot afford, nor fit in my bed chamber, and ever so many gowns and cloaks and such that getting on this site is very dangerous and I should stop.

5. My pixie cut!! - I made a decision. I don’t want to wait until I’m 25 to get my hair cut. Now is the optimum time because it can be growing out until I’m 25, and if the stylist botches it for some reason, I don’t want to be hideous around the same time I get desperate for a husband. :P So 22nd birthday shall be when I get a radical new hair cut, and 25 is the year I sign up for an online dating service or have my dad arrange my marriage (like he is seriously offering to do) if nothing happens before then. :)

For the bangs and side wispies, this is my favourite.

And for the back layers and general girly nature, I love this one most.

And here is my entire Pinterest board of pixie cuts I’m looking at for inspiration.

5 Looks I Want To Try

Five looks I might actually try, if only I had the money, skills, and bravery. (Or stupidity.)

  • Shorts With Tights

We saw this look in London a lot. I guess it rains so much in England that people get desperate to wear shorts in the summer regardless of the weather. So girls would walk down the street, carrying giant, colourful umbrellas while wearing shorts over tights.

Zooey pulls off this look. But that’s not a big surprise. She can pull off a lot of quirky looks. This is also a look combining shorts and tights that I really want to try.

  • Korean “Cutesy” Stuff

Like loose fitting tees with smiley faces and hoodies with animal ears.

tofebruary.com has oodles of stuff I want to buy. This “Playful Smile Top” would be in my closet or on my person at this very moment, except I can’t justify spending $24 on something I’d have to hide from most of my friends and family. I think it’s hilarious because it’s this vampire smiley face thing. Like, “Hellow! I’m adorable and cheerful and I just ate your arm off!” That’s the twisted side of me coming out. Oh, and look! The model is wearing shorts with tights, too; combining two daring fashion statements I want to try.

I could pull of this look. I could own it. This playful, cutesy stuff is so. me. The problem is that wearing anything like that would only put me in more danger of being mistaken for a twelve year old. I shouldn’t be tempted to make it worse for myself than it already is. :P

  • Giant Feather Earrings

I actually own a pair of these already. I look at them sometimes and go, “I should match an outfit with these, because they’re just… so. fun!” And then I realise all my summer clothes are either work uniforms, sundresses, or the colour blue, and nothing I have goes with the brownish earrings. Plus, I have to wear my hair a certain way so the earrings don’t overpower my face, and that’s a complication all its own.

  • Posh British Lady’s Hat

Speaks for itself, I think. :)

  • A Short Pixie Cut!

I’m already set to try this for my 25th birthday! We’ll see how long my hair gets by then.

But I have to be careful. With my round, babyish face, I could end up looking like a boy instead of a sophisticated girl-woman. Even this might be a bit short in the bangs to look good on me.

Then there’s this, which I think is utterly adorable, but perhaps not brave enough for a 25th BOOM SHAKALAKAH! (Perhaps.) I can see it working as a style once the pixie cut starts to grow out a little bit.

But this… this one would be scary, and possibly still be feminine enough. I’m scared. :P And also excited. But I have three years and three months to get used to the idea!

Project Hair Grow – Month 11

Come September I’ll have reached the year mark for when I started these hair posts. Okay, so technically I started posting in October, but the picture was from September, so that’s where I’m counting from.

Can you believe it’s almost been a year!? I can’t! I can’t even believe I’ve been blogging here for that long!

I know, I have lazy eyes. It’s not the only lazy thing about me. (Look how late this post is.)

This is just to show how uncomfortably hot it was.

My bangs grow so fast. They went from the above shortness to being so long I could curl them back to be indistinguishable from the rest of my layers–in a month.

See what I mean? You can’t even tell I had bangs! But no worries. I have them again now. :) I know my hair looks fairly tolerable in those pictures, but they’d got to the point where they sproinged wrongfully at the sides of my head and wouldn’t be tamed by a flat iron or hairspray. It was time. They’re much more manageable now.

Hopefully next month I won’t be so late. Hopefully you can see my hair as it currently is. And since it will be the one year mark, I’ll have some refresher pictures and “this is what I want my hair to be” photos. :D Yay!

Project Hair Grow – Month 10

Okay, I took different pictures in various times during the month of June for my hair. But none of them were quite… well, I guess I try too hard sometimes. I just need a decent picture of my hair! That’s all!

So in an effort to be more… me… without the added pressure, I dug up a June picture of me (with my hair down) after a day of work. No makeup, either. You’ve been warned. ;)

Oh yeah. Deer in the headlights look. :P

And I did finally get my bangs trimmed! Beauty school. That’s the secret. I can afford to pay those girls who are just starting out. And they do a great job! It takes a little longer because they want to be really careful, but I paid $7 for a full shampoo/cut/style. Pretty snazzy!

There. My bangs.

My camera is going through a phase right now where it takes really bad, glowy pictures.

Also, this should actually be June’s post. Because I kept putting this off. Because I’m lame like that.
